Pic 8.14 b, The exact piece shown in my book. This boy is dressed for winter and his clothing and the ground are snowy, this could also serve as an elegant Valentine as well as a Christmas present. The two slightly different examples of this piece shown in my book are the only examples I have ever seen. Notice the ladybug, a symbol of good luck, on the sign board behind the boy. The sign post was made to serve as a vase. 5.5" $1000 -- Reduced to $750
Rare snow baby boy on mound. The flowers in the pot he carries seems to be original, which would make him rarer still. Pic 8.17a in my book shows another example of this boy -- minus the flowers.
This example is in outstanding condition with no chips or cracks. The face and curls are beautifully painted.
The base of this figure is very like -- possibly identical to -- the pair carrying metal sleds and shown in Pic 8.31. It's likely they were all produced by the same factory. 4" $1200 -- Reduced to $900
NEW SERVICE: Are you looking for a particular piece? Because I am selling some pieces for another collector, I may be able to get your special piece for you. Send my a book picture number or a photo, and I'll get back to you.
Pic 13.84 This is a Japanese version of Santa delivering presents to a baby in a cradle. It is very like the largest German one and is the same height, 2.5" $65 -- Reduced to $49 SOLD
13.104b No-snow German Santa leaving toys outside this house that seems to be made of ice. Excellent paint on this example. 1.75" $115 -- Reduced to $86 SOLD
Pic 8.31 a & b. A pair of children wearing yellow mittens were intended to hold metal sleds. Unfortunately the metal is very soft, and I know of only one set surviving. This pair comes with a pair of Dept 56 sleds that are approximately the right size.
There is damage to the girl's arm, shown in the insert. It is not obvious unless she is tilted back. The insert picture was taken with the piece lying flat. The arm has been glued back together at some time in the distant past, prior to when it was last purchased. I am relieved that I noticed the damage, so that the new buyer won't be unaware. 4.25" each, priced with damage consideration. $1600 the pair. -- Reduced to $1200
